The state House Redistricting Committee has approved a plan that would redraw Minnesota's congressional districts.
The vote was along party lines, with all the Republicans in favor of the plan. Democrats are criticizing it as political and argue that Republicans are rushing the plan through before the public can provide any meaningful testimony.
Rep. Peggy Scott, R-Andover, said Democrats should have offered their own proposal.
"To sit here and criticize the plan that is in hand here is really disingenuous when you could have come up with your own plan," Scott said.
Gov. Dayton said the plan doesn't meet his standards because it doesn't have broad, bipartisan support. The courts will draw the maps if Dayton and the Legislature can't agree on a plan by February.
