The international aid group OXFAM is out with a new report predicting much higher food prices around the world in the next few decades -- doubling in some cases for staples like corn. The group expects the result to be a food shortage across the developing world. And one major reason for this spike in food prices is climate change, which experts say will wreak havoc on farming around the world.

Despite the broad consensus among scientists that something needs to be done to address climate change, experts say that very little has actually been accomplished. But environmental scientist Tim Flannery says it is NOT too late. He thinks there is still time for the world to prevent many of the problems caused by climate change. However, he says time is running out.

Tim Flannery is an internationally acclaimed scientist and conservationist. He led the Copenhagen Climate Council, a coalition of community, business, and political leaders who pushed for action at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in 2009. He's also written more than a dozen books about science and the environment, including "The Weathermakers", "Now or Never," and his latest, "Here on Earth: A Natural History of the Planet."

Tim Flannery was recently the featured speaker at the Commonwealth Club of California, where he focused on some possible solutions to the environmental challenges posed by climate change.
