Although a shutdown of state government is looming a little more than a week away, officials say work is still going on behind the scenes on a new Vikings stadium.
The team and state are still trying to solve a funding gap for roads around a proposed $1 billion stadium development in Arden Hills.
Senate Transportation Committee Chair Joe Gimse, R-Willmar, said he expects to hear more from the team next week, refining a proposal the team laid out earlier this month on road work.
"What we're asking the Vikings to do is come to us with a comprehensive package with numbers that aren't fluid anymore, but are something we can get our arms around in this discussion," he said.
The team had proposed a mix of user fees, sales taxes and other revenue, in partnership with Ramsey County. The two reached an agreement in May on a stadium, but haven't won approval yet from legislators or Gov. Mark Dayton.
