Former Democratic Congressman Rick Nolan today announced his campaign for the 8th District seat currently held by Republican Chip Cravaack.

Nolan, who lives in Crosby, represented part of Minnesota in the US House from 1975 until 1981. Nolan says he supports repealing Bush-era tax cuts and extraction from what he calls "voluntary" wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nolan, 67, says his age is an asset in the race.

"I have a wealth of experience, in politics -- in the legislature, in congress, in business," Nolan said. "I know how to make a payroll, I know how to balance a budget. I know how to sit down in an international and global community, or in a political community and negotiate."

Nolan joins former State Senator Tarryl Clark and Duluth City Council member Jeff Anderson in seeking the DFL endorsement.
