Northstar rail service resumes Tuesday
Northstar commuter rail line will be back on track by Tuesday morning, a Metro Transit official said.
However, riders should expect delays — there's a three-day backup of freight traffic, Metro Transit said.
Heavy rain last week washed out part of the track, causing a freight train derailment in Fridley over the weekend that damaged the Burlington Northern tracks that Northstar uses.
Northstar will be available for Tuesday morning commuters, Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland said, but the station at Fridley will remain closed most of the day.

"Rail traffic through there will be restricted. And while that's happening, we will not be serving Fridley station," Siqveland said.
Trains will pass through the Fridley station, Siqveland said. Metro Transit hopes to open the Fridley station in time for the evening Twins game.
"Fridley Station should be open in time for the special Twins train, which will serve the 7 p.m. Game at Target Field. But it will not be open for the a.m. or p.m. commuter trips," Siqveland said.
Northstar service at Fridley station is expected to be back to normal by Wednesday morning.
