Border Patrol assists in alleged Virginia kidnapping

VIRGINIA, Minn. (AP) - The U.S. Border Patrol and other federal agencies are assisting police in a northeastern Minnesota community in their search for a woman allegedly kidnapped by her estranged husband.

Virginia Det. Tim Koivunen said Tuesday the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service are also helping in the search for Roberta Lynn Caskey, who may have been taken to Texas by Timothy Caskey, who's accused of abducting her last Thursday.

Authorities in New Braunfels, Texas contacted Virginia police last weekend when a man and woman matching the couple's description took a truck for a test drive at a dealership and never returned.

Koivunen says the U.S. Border Patrol has been alerted because Timothy Caskey has frequented Mexico in the past and speaks fluent Spanish.

He says there's no evidence so far that the Caskeys have crossed the U.S. border into Mexico.
