Civil rights groups weigh in on school district's sexual orientation policies
Two national civil rights groups will hold a news conference today to talk about the Anoka-Hennepin school district's sexual orientation policy.
School officials there say the policy makes it clear that teachers should remain neutral during discussions about sexual orientation. But others say that so-called neutrality policy singles out gay students and makes it harder for teachers to keep them safe from harassment.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with reporter Elizabeth Dunbar who has been following the issue.
Update: The National Center for Lesbian Rights and the Southern Poverty Law Center filed a lawsuit today.
