It's peak season for hitting one of Minnesota's thousands of lakes. But it's also a time when the threats to the health of those lakes are most evident.

Inconsistent water levels, algae, and perhaps their biggest threat -- invasive species -- raise questions about our state's lakes' ability to thrive over the long term.

We'll get a mid-summer status report on one of Minnesota's greatest treasures: its lakes.
