Mankato ATV driver alleged to have hit 4 squad cars

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - A 34-year-old Mankato man was arrested after police say he led them on a chase on an all-terrain vehicle and deliberately struck four squad cars.

Police say an officer saw the ATV commit several traffic violations around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused and the officer pursued. During the chase, police say, the driver drove through several fields and residential yards.

Cmdr. Jeremy Clifton says the driver deliberately struck three Mankato Public Safety squad cars along the way. He says the pursuit ended when the driver collided with a Blue Earth County squad car and hit a tree.

The ATV driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He's being held in the Blue Earth County jail.
