Duluth police kill suspected car thief, robber
Duluth Police shot and killed an armed robber after he crashed into a home and opened fire on them Sunday evening.
Police were trying to stop a stolen 2002 Infiniti when the driver sped away. The car crashed into a home, and the driver fled.
Two officers pursued the suspect on foot to a nearby home, and the suspect fired on them. Officers returned fire and killed the suspect. A woman who lived in the home suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police spokesman Jim Hansen said Monday morning that the suspect was the same man believed to have robbed a Walgreens drug store in Duluth on Saturday night. Police said that he showed the pharmacist a gun, demanded pills and fled.
The robber is believed to have stolen the Infiniti at gunpoint a few blocks away. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the case. Duluth police have not released the name of the suspect.
