Motorists are cautioned to avoid marathon route Sunday

Motorists in Minneapolis and St. Paul are reminded to prepare for detours Sunday due to the annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.

The 30th running of the race begins at 8 a.m. at the Metrodome. The 26.2 mile course travels along the Minneapolis parkways before crossing the Franklin Avenue Bridge and into St. Paul.

The race finishes near the State Capitol. While runners are on the courses, no vehicle or pedestrian traffic will be permitted. Streets will be reopened after runners have passed by.
