New London man grows Minnesota record pumpkin

A New London man has set a new record for the heaviest pumpkin ever grown in Minnesota.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Chad Revier broke the record on Saturday at Stillwater's Harvest Fest with a pumpkin that weighed 1,630 pounds, beating the record he set in 2009 by 51 pounds.

However, Revier didn't win the grand prize. That went to Kevin Marsh of Parker, S.D., who brought a 1,657-pound pumpkin which earned him the $5,000 prize. Revier's pumpkin came in second.

World record holder Chris Stevens, of New Richmond, Wis., came in third this year with a 1,575-pound pumpkin.
