Police investigate Vikings' Chris Cook, held for alleged domestic assault
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook is being held without bail in Hennepin County Jail as Eden Prairie police investigate an incident of domestic assault at his home.
Eden Prairie police spokeswoman Katie Beal said dispatchers received a phone call at 1:42 a.m. Saturday from a caller who reported yelling and screaming in the neighborhood. Officers responded to the 6400 block of Regency Lane. Beal said Cook did not resist when officers arrested him at 2:10 am.
Beal said Cook, 24, is being held on allegations of felony and misdemeanor domestic assault and strangulation.
Cook can be held for 36 to 48 hours; after which he must either be released or be formally charged by the Hennepin County Attorney.
The Minnesota Vikings officials said they are aware of the incident involving Cook and are taking the matter seriously. Officials have said that Cook will not play in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. They are not offering further comment and said they are still gathering details.
Cook is scheduled for a court appearance Monday.
