Gov. Mark Dayton kicked off his jobs summit at a downtown St. Paul hotel this morning by talking about the economic challenges facing the state and nation.
"I would ask only that today be a day for no politics or polemics, to be a day for ideas not ideologies. That we all participate, honor different points of view and find what it is that we agree upon," he said.
He told several hundred people at the summit that he's been impressed by people he's been meeting with while traveling the state looking for job creation ideas.
"If we can harness that successful and even more creatively and more effectively in response to these challenges that we face, I'm very optimistic for the future of our state," Dayton said.
Dayton staffers say they expect to leave the summit with a concrete "to-do" list which they say will likely result in legislation to be introduced in next year's legislative session.
