Moorhead police cite 58 at underage drinking party

MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) - Moorhead police have issued nearly 60 citations stemming from a large house party where underage drinking allegedly occurred.

Police say they responded Saturday about 12:30 a.m. to a home to disperse "a large, loud gathering." They say as the first officers arrived, about 40 partygoers bolted through doors and windows and sprinted across neighbors' yards.

Officers detained about 60 people and issued citations. They say 52 people were cited for consuming alcohol as minors, two for fleeing an officer on foot and one for providing a false name.

Three residents of the home were also cited for violating the city's social-host ordinance. They are three men, ages 23, 21 and 20.
