Public warned of sex offender who fled release program

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is searching for a level 3 sex offender who fled his supervised release program.

Clarence Robinson is also known by other names: Clarence Lee Jones, James Edward Robinson or Maurice Robinson. Robinson is on intensive supervised release for a 1997 conviction for burglary during which he sexually assaulted a woman. He's been a fugitive since he walked away from a halfway house on Nov. 1.

Robinson is a 39 year old African American. He is 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 175 pounds.

In the past, Robinson escaped from custody in Carver County and tried to escape from custody in Anoka County. He also has other robbery and burglary convictions.

The corrections department warns people should not try to confront Robinson but call 911 or the corrections tip line: 651-603-0026.
