Minn. trooper jumps into lake to save driver

What was supposed to be a routine patrol turned into a moment of heroism for a Minnesota state trooper.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow was on patrol on Interstate 94 near Alexandria Thursday afternoon when the car in front of him left the freeway and plunged into Lake Latoka.

Grabow jumped into the chilly water as the woman's car began to sink. Another trooper arrived and helped bring the woman to safety.

Grabow tells KFGO-AM two passing drivers held onto a tow strap that was tied to the car as the rescue was under way. He says the car went down quickly after the woman was rescued.

The 27-year-old woman is from out of state. She was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.
