Bullet shatters U of M dorm window

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Police say a gunshot that broke a dorm window at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities was apparently random gunfire.

University police responded to the incident Monday about 4 a.m., checked the area along the nearby Mississippi River, but found nothing.

Authorities said the gunshot was likely fired from the river's west bank. The shot broke two window panes, but no one was injured.

Police tell WCCO the dorm was most likely not targeted.
