Goodwill: Still time to make tax-deductible donation

There is still time for people who want to make tax deductible contributions of clothing, furniture, cars, boats and other items.

Goodwill stores throughout Minnesota will accept donations until 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The organization will even pick up donated cars and boats Saturday evening, said Lisa Ritter, spokeswoman for Goodwill and Easter Seals of Minnesota.

"We will take them into the night. If people call our toll-free number, we have people who work well into the evening," Ritter said. "And you don't have to be there. We just have to know where to pick up the car and get some basic information, just to start the process."

The organization has 24 stores in Minnesota. All locations have drive-through drop-off points for donations.

"As long as we take possession by even into the evening New Year's eve, you are eligible for that tax donation," Ritter said.

Ritter says vehicle donations have been slower than normal in recent months because Minnesota has had little snowfall. She says vehicle donations typically rise when more snow arrives.
