Lawmakers want bridge named after Uecker

In this time of polarizing politics, perhaps Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker is the only thing that can bring Republicans and Democrats together.

A bipartisan group of 20 state lawmakers is asking Gov. Scott Walker's administration to rename a pedestrian bridge near Miller Park as "Bob Uecker Way" for one day to celebrate his birthday on Jan. 26.

The Legislature has already passed a resolution marking Jan. 26 as "Bob Uecker Day" in Wisconsin.

The 12 Republicans and eight Democrats sent a letter dated Monday to Walker's Department of Transportation asking for the name change for the bridge over Miller Park Way that connects the east parking lot to the entrance near center field.

A spokeswoman for DOT did not immediately return a message.
