Drugs suspected in Superior killing

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) -- The brother of a man shot dead in Superior says he suspects drug activities were involved.

Antron Cooper, of Minneapolis, says his brother Toriano Dawen Cooper had a drug problem much of his life.

Superior police got a call about 10 a.m. Sunday that a 35-year-old man had been shot while cleaning or working on a vehicle.

Toriano Cooper's fiance, Kristina Lampi, is five months pregnant. She tells the Duluth News Tribune it's too early to know whether drugs were involved. She says he had been sober for 22 days.

Police say Cooper was targeted and the public should not be concerned. They are seeking information about a man who was near Cooper's home at the time.

Cooper has a lengthy criminal record in Minnesota and Wisconsin, including assault convictions, car theft and robbery.
