Remains found in northern Minn. identified

DEER RIVER, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities say skeletal remains found in Itasca County are those of a 53-year-old man missing for more than a year.

The sheriff's office says DNA testing confirmed the remains found in late November were those of Perry Lee Pine.

Pine was last seen on Sept. 18, 2010, when he left his home and walked to a Squaw Lake business. Authorities searched the area but were unable to find Pine.

The Duluth News Tribune reports Pine's remains were found Nov. 25 on private property about a half-mile from his home.

An autopsy was conducted. No foul play is suspected.
