Minneapolis police search for missing 10-year-old

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minneapolis police are seeking the public's help to locate a 10-year-old Bloomington girl who disappeared in the area of West Lake Street West and Pillsbury Avenue South.

Namo Abdinur Ahmed was last seen around 10 a.m. Sunday. Police say she got out of a car with her mother and siblings and was walking just ahead of them to their religious classes. She never made it.

Sgt. William Palmer says officers have been going door to door, spreading the word in the Somali community and using a police dog.

Namo, who may also go by Naimo or Nimo, is a Somali female, 4-foot-8 to 4-foot-10 with a lighter build and a medium brown complexion. She was wearing a black full-length dress, pink shoes, a dark traditional head covering and carrying a purple or pink backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 within Minneapolis or 612-673-2345 from outside the city.
