What does it mean to be a 'real conservative?'

Republican candidates one upping each other on who is the "real conservative" shows us that the conservative movement is not monolithic. It's undergone an evolution since the Reagan era when the term was an umbrella for anyone who wanted less government and a strong defense. With some Republican voters still looking for a conservative alternative, we decided to ask, "What is a conservative?" and "What is the conservative movement about?"
