Stabbed toddler released from Ely hospital

BABBITT, Minn. (AP) -- The 3-year-old girl stabbed multiple times allegedly by her mother's boyfriend, has been released from the hospital in Ely.

The 27-year-old man was shot and wounded by police in Babbitt Tuesday as he held a knife to the child. A police officer initially tried disarming the suspect by deploying a stun gun, but it was ineffective. The man is hospitalized in Duluth.

Natalee Walker is at home with her grandmother, Cynti Tricker. She tells KBJR-TV that her granddaughter was stabbed twice in the side and once above her knee. Tricker says the suspect had been in a relationship with her daughter for a few months and was living in the home.
