Arboretum seeks Top 10 plants that changed Minn.
CHASKA, Minn. (AP) -- The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum wants to know: Which plants changed Minnesota and transformed how we live today?
The Arboretum is encouraging the public to nominate specific plants for a Top 10 list. It's part of a new initiative to build awareness of the crucial role plants play in nourishing and sustaining life.
University of Minnesota horticulture professor Mary Meyer is spearheading the program. She says they hope to start conversations about plants and their role in the historic and economic factors that changed the course of Minnesota. She's seeking to engage students from elementary through university levels, as well as the public.
Nominations will be accepted through April 15 via the Arboretum website or in person at the visitor center in Chaska.
