Romney opposes, then supports, Blunt amendment

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Mitt Romney says he doesn't support a Senate Republican effort that would allow employers to deny insurance coverage based on moral objections and that critics say could limit birth control. Romney's campaign immediately reversed his position.

In an interview Wednesday with Ohio News Network, Romney was asked if he supported Sen. Roy Blunt's amendment. It's scheduled for a vote on Thursday.

Romney says he doesn't back the measure but adds that he doesn't like presidential candidates, in his words, ``getting into questions about contraception within a relationship between a man and a woman.''

Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul says the question was asked in a confusing way. She says Romney supports the Blunt amendment.
