Burnsville residents angry over school official's payout

School board members in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage district heard from angry constituents upset about a large severance payout to a former human resources director.

About 150 residents packed a board meeting Thursday night, some demanding to know why Tania Chance was paid nearly $255,000 to resign her position just seven months into a two-year contract.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press says board members got an earful, but didn't reveal why Chance and the district negotiated her release. Board members say they are bound by state law from giving details on the severance agreement.
