ARE, Sweden (AP) -- Lindsey Vonn, who grew up ski racing at Buck Hill in the Twin Cities suburbs, won the World Cup giant slalom race in Are on Friday to clinch her fourth overall title.

Vonn took the lead after the first run and finished in a combined time of 2 minutes, 28.0 seconds. Federica Brignone of Italy was second, 0.48 behind Vonn.

Olympic champion Viktoria Rebensburg of Germany finished third and narrowly failed to wrap up the World Cup discipline title.

Vonn won the overall title three times in a row from 2008-10. She only just missed out on the title last season, finishing three points behind Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany.
