Charges filed in St. Paul gang rape case

The Ramsey County Attorney's office has charged five adults and four juveniles with raping a 14-year-old St. Paul girl last November.

The charges allege the victim was held down and sexually assaulted by a group of men in an abandoned house on White Bear Avenue.

At a press conference Friday, County Attorney John Choi praised the girl for coming forward.

"I want the victim and her family to know that we are with you and that this community wants to help you," Choi said. "The defendants in this case will account for their horrific actions, and we will bring them to justice."

The defendants range in age from 15 to 37. Eight of the nine have been arrested. In addition to criminal sexual conduct, they are charged with kidnapping and committing a crime for the benefit of a gang. The charges say some of the men have admitted they are members of the gang called True Blood 22.
