Fargo authorities search Red River for man

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Authorities in Fargo are searching for a man they say jumped in the Red River to get away from police.

Authorities say the man did not grab onto a flotation device tossed at him and was struggling to stay above water early Wednesday.

Rescue crews launched a boat, and divers were at the scene. Authorities also were searching on land near the river.

There was no immediate word on why the man allegedly was fleeing from officers.
