Man found in quarry died of hypothermia

An autopsy has determined that a 52-year-old Rochester man whose body was found in a quarry last month died of hypothermia.

But the Post-Bulletin reports that authorities still have questions about Randy Fortier's death.

Olmsted County Sheriff Dave Mueller says there's still uncertainty about whether his death should be considered suspicious because toxicology tests haven't been completed, and they can take several weeks to complete. Mueller says investigators also still wonder how Fortier got to the quarry.

Fortier, a former Las Vegas card dealer, had a history of wandering away from home after suffering multiple strokes in 2005. He was last seen Dec. 19. His body was found about three miles from home March 13 in a part of the quarry where authorities say a person would not normally go.
