Medical experts say more spending on health care needed

A group of national medical experts say the U.S. needs to spend more on health care.

A panel from the Institute of Medicine issued a report showing that despite spending more on health care per person than other industrial nations, the U.S. has lower life-expectancy rates and performs worse in other areas that measure overall public health.

In the report released Tuesday, the panel recommended more health care funding and suggests a tax on certain health care transactions to raise revenue.
