FBI, Pine Ridge residents air Wounded Knee frustrations
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Tensions remained high at the second day of a conference focusing on the 1973 Wounded Knee takeover as American Indian Movements activists and Native Americans living on the Pine Ridge reservation questioned the government's role in the occupation and its lasting implications.
During a morning session, a Pine Ridge resident questioned whether FBI investigator David Price felt any sort of responsibility for perpetuating an "us vs. them" mentality between reservation residents and the FBI.
Price was one of the FBI agents on the reservation during the takeover and left in 1977.
Price said he has been gone for many years and there is no reason for someone to be angry with him about something he did or didn't do.
He added he has no intention to ever visit.
