Nice Ride Minn. to add 30 stations

Nice Ride Minnesota plans add 30 new bicycle rental stations to its fleet this summer.

Most of the new stations will be in downtown St. Paul. Many of the new stations will be online by June 2, the start of Twin Cities Bike Walk Week.

The neon-green bikes debuted in Minneapolis in 2010. The program offers users a transportation option tailored to quick trips. Riders check out a bike at a kiosk, ride it to another station and leave it there.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports after the expansion, the total number of Nice Ride stations in Minneapolis and St. Paul will number 146, with 1,328 bikes in the fleet.

Nice Ride also will distribute more than 10,000 bike helmets at events throughout the summer.
