MN Waters to shut down, citing money woes
Money woes are forcing a Minnesota nonprofit involved in water-quality issues to end operations.
The executive director of Minnesota Waters says the organization will shut down Saturday.
Lois Sinn Lindquist, who headed the group for the past year, says Minnesota Waters already has cut its staff to reduce costs.
Lindquist says Minnesota Waters considered combining functions with another operation. But she says the board of directors decided to put the group into a dormant state, allowing it to keep its corporate identity in case it resumes operations.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports several Minnesota Waters projects may be managed by the Freshwater Society.
Minnesota Waters has more than 30,000 members. The group was formed in 2006 when the Rivers Council of Minnesota and the Minnesota Lakes Association merged.
