Child who survived boating accident goes home

LEONARD, Minn. (AP) -- An 8-year-old Minnesota boy who survived a boating accident that left his two younger brothers dead has been released the hospital.

Isaiah Risland of Leonard was boating with his father and brothers near Bemidji last month when their boat capsized. All three boys were wearing life jackets, but spent about an hour in the frigid waters of Clearwater Lake before emergency responders could reach them.

Six-year-old Zechariah and 2-year-old Jacob died of hypothermia. Isaiah suffered life-threatening injuries.

Sara Staley is Isaiah's aunt. A St. Paul Pioneer Press report says she wrote on her nephew's CaringBridge site that Isaiah was released from the hospital Friday.

She says Isaiah and his father are with family during the Memorial Day weekend and are embarking on their "new normal."
