Minneapolis police arrested three protesters who were occupying a foreclosed home in south Minneapolis Tuesday.
Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson Sgt. William Palmer said two members of Occupy Homes MN were arrested outside the south Minneapolis house. Another protester was arrested inside.
Palmer said the eviction order was enforced by Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies last week.
The homeowners at 4044 Cedar Avenue South are trying to renegotiate the terms of their loan. The city says the lender is Freddie Mac.
A statement from the city of Minneapolis Tuesday confirmed that the city boarded up the home.
"The city plays a limited role to protect public safety. The property is the responsibility of its owner," City Attorney Susan Segal said in the statement. "In this case, the city has fulfilled its legal obligation to secure the property."
After the arrests, a group of protesters marched down Hiawatha Avenue to the Minneapolis Police Department's 3rd Precinct on Lake Street.
