Minn. online job postings decline

The number of online want ads for jobs in Minnesota dropped in May, according to the research group The Conference Board.

There were about 116,00 jobs posted online in the state this month. That's roughly 2,000 fewer ads than in April.

Still, labor demand in the state in May was 32 percent above its pre-recession high of about 88,000 ads.

Based on the most recent unemployment data available, the Conference Board says there's a nearly one-to-one ratio of vacancies to jobless Minnesotans. for each position posted online.

That's down from a recession high of nearly five unemployed workers for every vacancy in the state.

Nationally, there are about three jobless workers competing for each job opening posted online.
