Officials release name of boy who drowned in pool

HOPKINS, Minn. (AP) -- Authorities have released the name of a 6-year-old boy who died after he was found unresponsive in a supervised pool at a Hopkins country club.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office says Nicholas Henry Alexander Janzen of St. Paul died as a result of drowning.

The death has been ruled an accident.

Hopkins police say the boy was swimming Friday evening at a birthday party at Oak Ridge Country Club. A lifeguard noticed he wasn't moving, and club employees and members began performing CPR.

The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg says it's unclear what led to the drowning. He says there weren't any known issues with equipment safety at the pool.
