Medical examiner IDs Mpls. drowning victim

Authorities have released the name of a 16-year-old girl who drowned in Cedar Lake in Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office on Wednesday identified the victim as Chiccena Carpenter of Minneapolis.

Her death was ruled an accidental drowning.

The girl was swimming with friends Sunday when she disappeared underwater. She may have been submerged for nearly 40 minutes before divers found her in about 12 feet of water.

She died Monday at HCMC.
