Funeral set for 13-year-old Duluth boy

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A funeral is set for Tuesday for a 13-year-old Duluth boy who died after being underwater in Lake Superior for more than a half-hour.

Thirteen-year-old Jeffery Carlos Watson Jr. was swimming with a friend Monday near an old concrete structure just off Duluth's Lakewalk trail when he went under and didn't surface. Searchers used a remotely operated vehicle with a camera to help locate him 30 minutes later.

He was revived after rescuers found him, but his family took him off life support Tuesday afternoon.

The funeral is next Tuesday at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Duluth.

The family's pastor, Gabriel Green, tells the Duluth News Tribune (http://bit.ly/M6S4lR) a fund has been set up to help the family at U.S. Bank.
