Minn. man dies during regatta on Wis. lake

A Minnesota man has died after he was thrown from his sailboat during a regatta on a Wisconsin lake.

Dane County sheriff's officials say the 66-year-old Chaska man was sailing in the race on Lake Kegonsa Thursday when he was thrown from his sailboat about 7:15 p.m.

Boaters who came to the man's rescue say he was alert and conscious when they reached him, but as they pulled him onto the pontoon, he lost consciousness. He was taken to a Stoughton hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff's deputies say the man was wearing an auto-inflate life vest at the time. Authorities say he owns a summer home on Lake Kegonsa.
