Jamaican DJ pleads not guilty to fleeing

A popular Jamaican deejay accused of fleeing the U.S. to avoid a drug trial a decade ago has pleaded not guilty to one count of failure to appear in court.

Glendale Goshia Gordon performs under the name Busy Signal. He entered his plea Monday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis and was ordered detained.

He was charged with two drug counts in 2002, but left Minnesota before his trial. He was arrested last month in Jamaica.

Prosecutors say he could face up to five years in prison if convicted of failing to appear in court.

He's currently not being prosecuted on the cocaine charges. Because of extradition treaties, any future prosecution on those charges would need to be worked out between the Jamaican and U.S. governments.
