Eagan police investigate death of 10-week-old boy

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) -- Eagan police say they're investigating the death of a 10-week-old boy who was sleeping in the same bed as his drunken grandmother.

A search warrant says when police arrived at the grandmother's home, they suspected she had been drinking alcohol. Court documents say the 46-year-old had bloodshot eyes and fell asleep while talking to investigators.

A preliminary breath test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving. She acknowledged to investigators she'd been drinking the previous night.

Eagan police tell the St. Paul Pioneer Press they're gathering more information before they send the case to prosecutors for possible charges.

The grandmother says she woke up to find the baby bleeding from his nose. The mother and paramedics were unable to revive him.
