Boy, 11, drowns in Corcoran farm pond

CORCORAN, Minn. (AP) -- An 11-year-old boy apparently has drowned in a Hennepin County farm pond.

The sheriff's office says two young brothers from St. Paul were visiting a farm in Corcoran with their family. One brother alerted an adult that his brother was in the pond and needed help.

Authorities say the boy had been under water and was unconscious. First responders provided CPR, and the boy was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident was reported about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim's name was not immediately released. The sheriff's office is investigating.
