Leaders in Fergus Falls are considering a limited deer hunt on some city-owned land after a spate of car-deer accidents in the city limits.
Alderman Jim Fish first proposed the idea in May, and the City Council is expected to vote on the idea at its meeting Monday night.
The hunt would be limited to archery, but Mayor Hal Leland says he has heard from some residents concerned about potential dangers. If approved, it would be the first such hunt in the city.
It would allow no more than 10 hunters to hunt in a few designated areas on the outskirts of the city, away from homes.
Eighteen car-deer accidents have been reported in Fergus Falls in the past 18 months.
