ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A new online system to help Minnesotans locate unclaimed property has been implemented by the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

The Missing Money system added to the department's website last week lets people check for any unclaimed stock, paychecks, or bank accounts.

One in 20 Minnesotans have at least $100 in assets they have forgotten, said Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman.

"You know, its $100, sometime its $1000, sometimes its even more. We've reunited a lot of people with large claims of dollars," Rothman said. "That's important for people not only to just find the money that's theirs, but also it could come at a helpful time.
