Target to test Geek Squad in some stores

Target stores are going to host technology experts from Best Buy's Geek Squad. The Twin Cities-based retailing giants are joining forces first in the Denver market.

Target stores there will host Geek Squad tech support experts in all of the 28 stores in the Denver market, as well as one store in the Twin Cities.

The signature white-shirted-with-black-tie Geek Squad agents will be available for a wide range of support, according to a Target spokeswoman. Typically the Geek Squad offers services from in-store repairs to home theater installations through Best Buy outlets. The electronics retailer bought the Minneapolis-based Geek Squad in 2002.

The Denver test gets underway in October and is expected to run six months. Target says it's going to see how the program goes, and may roll it out to other markets if it proves successful.
