Minneapolis police say a park police officer was stabbed during a robbery call Tuesday night.
Police say they were called to a robbery on Minnehaha Parkway at Bryant Avenue, just after 11 p.m. The victim reported he'd been robbed at knifepoint by multiple people.
Two officers drove to the scene and found a man in the area. When they approached him, he stabbed one of the officers in the torso. Her partner then shot and wounded the assailant.
Minneapolis police say the female officer was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment of a stab wound and a laceration to her head. The man shot at the scene is in stable condition at the same hospital, police said.
Park Police say its the first shooting ever solely involving their officers. The injured officer was a four-year-veteran of the force and her partner is a 9-year-veteran. Both are on routine administrative leave.
